Design and Digital Media Internship, Spring 2021

The Design & Digital Media Intern will assist the Communications Department with the creation of print and digital assets, image optimization on our website, content management (such as maintaining the Studio magazine pages) and asset management, and social media upkeep and digital engagement via the Studio Museum’s social media channels. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about visual branding and identity creation on numerous scales for the institution’s programming and exhibitions. The intern will work on one Museum catalogue over the course of their internship as well as work on a research project related to the creation of the Museum's new website.

Applicants must possess excellent writing and communication skills, superb attention to detail, be highly organized, and able to work independently. Must demonstrate familiarity with social media and online email marketing tools (Mailchimp) and must be adept at using Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop). The Media and Communications Internships are designed for mature undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates interested in careers in Arts Communications, Media Studies, Social Marketing, Design, or related fields. Applicant must provide the following:

  • A statement of intent (500 words or fewer) explaining reasons for applying to the program, what you hope to gain from the experience, and how it might enhance your education and career plans.
  • One letter of recommendation from a person who knows you in a professional or academic capacity is required. Recommenders may also email their letter separately to internships@studiomuseum.org by the application deadline.

Internship requires a minimum 12 hours/week, during the work week. The total 14-week internship has a total stipend of $2520. The entire program is remote and interns must have access to their own personal computers throughout duration of program.
