Tax Accountant

sPower is an established and rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Salt Lake City, with additional offices in San Francisco, Long Beach, and Richmond. The sPower accounting team is seeking a Tax Accountant with 0-3 years’ experience in preparing partnership tax returns and taxable income estimates. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Company’s process over Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value (HLBV) accounting including updating the related models as well as making the appropriate journal entries. This position will also assist with several other tax accounting matters as needed. The accountant will report to and work closely with the Tax Manager. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Tax Accountant’s duties will include the following (other duties may be assigned):
·      Prepare the Company’s various partnership tax returns.
·      Prepare the Company’s various quarterly taxable income estimates.
·      Update existing HLBV models with changes to forecast results to support the budgeting/forecast process.
·      Provide summary of HLBV results and changes in facts and circumstances of each HLBV model quarterly to assist in making SOX 404 review selections and update models for any changes based on this review.
·      Update HLBV models due to changes in tax assumptions or balances.
·      Assist in the set up or validation of new HLBV models for new tax equity structures.
·      Assist in the preparation in other tax areas including state, local, property, sales, etc.
·      Prepare the Company’s apportionment for various entities, ensuring the results are accurate and complete.
·      Responsible for all areas related to the maintenance of property, plant and equipment (including intangibles) records, including but not limited to deprecation related to regular tax, alternative minimum tax, various states, earnings and profits, etc.
·      Follow proper accounting controls and procedures.
·      Other projects as necessary.

Desired Skills and Expertise:

·      0-3 years accounting experience with preparing partnership tax returns and taxable income estimates
·      Renewable energy experience is a plus
·      Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
·      Strong Excel skills and ability to work effectively with accounting systems
·      Strong verbal and written communication skills
·      Excellent analytical skills

Education:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

·       Commensurate with experience; competitive.
